MSched with UltraEdit (or EditPad) ...
Hi,
can anyone provide an autocomplete file (which will be used for syntaxhighlighting as well) generated for MSched to use with UltraEdit?
No clue what I'm talking about? Have a look at a sample for other programming languages: http://www.ultraedit.com/downloads/additional.html
Any help would be appreciated.
Thx.
Ernest
BTW: An equivalent for "EditPad" would be also OK.

Hi,
I know there is a syntax definitions file for TextPad:
http://www.textpad.com/add-ons/synh2m.html
Not sure how up to date this is though.
Also Boxer Text Editor comes with Macro Scheduler syntax highlighting.
If anyone wants to create templates/syntax definitions/autocomplete files etc for other text editors, I can supply a list of functions or whatever else is needed. Perhaps it would then be nice to have a downloads page on the site for these. So if anyone is interested ...

The Macro Scheduler syntax file for TextPad has not been updated since 1999. So about 80% of the highlighting is OK? The syntax file can be edited, but it would be nice to have an official one from mjtnet? Who/where is Chris Wilmott who claims copyright?
I agree, this would be good to have on a download page. TextPad has been my editor of choice for many years.
Just a comment on TextPad. It is the most versatile text editor around. Using Macro Scheduler and TextPad eliminates the need for any other programming tools. These are the two best programs around! ( My humble opinion )

Hi bob,
I expect Marcus will provide a download of "syntax highlighters" for different editors in the (near) future :-} ?! Stay tuned ...
Cause I've got a brandnew index of MSched commands (Thx Marcus )
post your/a mail adress and I'll send it to you. You'll be able to update the TextPad file yourself (to provide it for download ).
Rgds,
Ernest

Hi,
Ernest and I created a syntax file for UltraEdit and I have emailed it to the UltraEdit people for inclusion on their downloads page.
Will add it to the mjtnet site soon too.
Will look at TextPad next!

Thanks for the offer Ernest. I actually started working on it myself last night, and now Marcus has provided the finished product.
Wow! That was fast, thanks a lot Marcus.
But when I go to the Downloads page, I only get a link to TextPad.com, and going to their addons page I only get the version from 1999. Did I miss a step somewhere?
Along the line of editors, how about an editor choice for the log files also like what is provided for the editor?

I think you clicked on the link to TextPad, rather than the download link. the downloads page is arranged into three columns:
Col 1- The download description with links to the product info pages if necessary:
Col 2 - The HTTP download
Col 3 - The FTP download
You must have clicked into column 1, not column 2 or 3.
Someone please tell me if you think our downloads page is too complicated - this is not the first time someone has clicked on the product info link rather than the download link. I hope we're not losing downloads because of this.

Huh,
I'm happy not have been the only one who's made it the "wrong" way.
To get an idea of a standard users thoughts about downloading (let's take mine )
Cause "coloured" UE-link has taken "my focus" imediately - clicked 1st section link.
OOps. Homepage of UE.
OK maybe wrong linked (checked statusbar -->OK).
Clicked UE's wordfile section. Surprised. No MSched file?!
Back to MSched site, read description. Bang, got it!
Conclusion: I'm (the user) to lazy to read/interpret section headers ...
cause the column header indicated me to get the "product" (the UEFile) at this section/link).
Proposal: upload it to UE/TextPad site as well. Good chance to give some users a hint to a programming language jewel: Macro Scheduler
Proposal:
Colum Header: named "Description" instead of "Product"
Description link named: Home of UltraEdit/TextPad

This has been done - I have emailed the files to UE and TextPad people and they said they will review and add to their listings.Ernest wrote: Proposal: upload it to UE/TextPad site as well. Good chance to give some users a hint to a programming language jewel: Macro Scheduler

I did get the download, thanks. I thought that I made an earlier posting explaining the error of my ways, but I don't see it here.
Anyway.......I just wanted to repeat a question that may have gotten lost in my previous note:
Along the line of editors, how about an editor choice for the log files also like what is provided for the editor? Would prefer to use TextPad there also.
And re the Download page, the first column does seem to be the links to the the titles referenced. Once you have made the error and look closer you can understand the page layout, but I do think it could be made a bit clearer.

Will add to the wish list. In the mean time you could make an exe called notepad.exe which runs your favourite editor - I know UltraEdit supply one. Then substitute notepad.exe for this.bob hansen wrote: Along the line of editors, how about an editor choice for the log files also like what is provided for the editor? I have made an attempt to make it a little clearer - please check the new page out.And re the Download page, the first column does seem to be the links to the the titles referenced. Hi Marcus,
I believe your website used to make available Macro Scheduler syntax highlighting files for use with TextPad and UltraEdit. I don't see these in the Download section/s anymore. Are these still available or can they be made available?
Also, I tried the link in an earlier post on this thread... looking for the Macro Scheduler syntax highlighting file on the UltraEdit website but the link was bad; here's the proper link (as of today anyway) along with the date when it was posted on their site I suppose:
ftp://www.ultraedit.com/wf/macroscheduler.txt
Macro Scheduler Script - 02/18/2003
http://www.textpad.com/add-ons/synh2m.html
Syntax definitions for when TextPad is used as the specified editor in Macro Scheduler from Mjt Net Ltd.
Contributed by Chris Willmot
The TextPad one may be the old original one by Chris Willmot... or perhaps its been updated... Bob Hansen could confirm this.
Anyone else out there know of other Macro Scheduler syntax highlighting files for other editors?
